Think you’re pregnant and not sure when to take a test? Or maybe you received a positive pregnancy test result but aren’t sure if it’s accurate. You can’t rely solely on symptoms to determine whether you’re pregnant. While a missed period or nausea could indicate pregnancy, they can also indicate other conditions, stress, and more.

It’s important to understand how pregnancy tests work, when to take a test, and what your next steps are if they are positive.

We’re here to help you better understand the pregnancy testing process and offer no-cost pregnancy tests at Still Waters Pregnancy Center. Don’t do this process alone.

When to Take a Pregnancy Test?

Waiting to take a pregnancy test until the time is right will give you much more accurate results.

For the most accurate results, women should wait until the day after their missed period to take a home pregnancy test.

Home pregnancy tests look for the presence of HCG or human chorionic gonadotropin in urine. According to the Mayo Clinic, levels of HCG rise rapidly in the first few weeks of pregnancy, doubling every 2 to 3 days.

If a pregnancy test is taken too early, the levels of HCG may not be high enough to produce a positive result – even when a woman is, in fact, pregnant.
